December Update

As you may have heard through social media and/or word of mouth, The Naked Grocer will be closing at the end of the year. The store has been both the production and retail home of the bakery since last November, so this has come as an unexpected blow to me personally as the Culinary Director & Chef, but to Gloria as well.

As I start to look for a space of my own, I think it’s important to be realistic about what that process entails. For those of you that own businesses, you know… Seattle’s commercial real estate market can feel especially challenging to navigate for small businesses without large capital behind them — rent prices are crazy high, independently owned buildings are being bought & demolished to put in high rise apartment complexes every month, and in general there is a very limited number of spaces out here! Point is, this might take a while.

Here’s what this means for you as customers: the final opportunity to purchase bread, pastries and pantry items will be the weekend before Christmas. After that, it’s likely I won’t be able to bake until I find a space in the new year. A little more on all that here via Instagram.

I so appreciate your support, and it breaks my heart to think that this hiatus might be longer than I hope. Thank you so much for all of your kind messages as this news has made its way into the world. I am so grateful for all of you!
